Customary & Reasonable Fees For Residential Appraisals

The North Carolina Chapter of the Appraisal Institute (NCAI) is aware of legislation pending in the North Carolina Senate and House of Representatives requiring customary and reasonable fees to be paid to appraisers by Appraisal Management Companies (AMCs) for residential appraisals.

The Government Relations Committee of the North Carolina Chapter of the Appraisal Institute is pleased to announce that HB 431 - Real Estate Appraisal Clarifications was introduced this week in the North Carolina House. Representative John Hardister (R-Guilford) along with Rep. Steve Ross (R-Alamance) and Rep. Ken Goodman (D-Richmond) introduced the bill on behalf of the NCAI.

I would like to announce that we have a new Executive Director for the Chapter. Randolph Cloud & Associates of Raleigh will begin operations on April 3, 2017, with Paola "Paula" Learoyd as Executive Director. Please be patient as we transition operations to this capable and highly regarded firm. The Personnel and Executive Committees spent a great deal of time and energy during the selection process, and we are confident that Paola and her team will do an excellent job for the Chapter. More information is forthcoming.

It is hard to believe that we are already well into 2016. The spring is typically a busy time for appraisers, and this year did not disappoint. In addition to the demands of our careers, we've been amidst one of the more interesting political campaign seasons in recent history.
